LMA organises two kinds of monthly activities: activities for the whole family and activities for parents alone.

Activities for families

Every month, we organise an activity for the whole family. It is extremely important for our children to grow up in an open, supportive environment where they do not feel alone simply because they are part of an alternative family. By doing frequent activities together, our children develop friendships with other children of lesbian parents and we create a supportive community.

Past activities include visits to the Parc Angrignon Zoo, “La fête des neiges”, a picnic in Parc Lafontaine, etc. We have seasonal parties including Halloween, Christmas, and a sugaring-off party in the spring.

All these activities are designed to be low-cost or free, and easily accessible.

Activities for lesbian mothers

The LMA regularly provides either a guest-speaker, discussion group or social activity for mothers. The group is fully bilingual and all meetings are translated in both English and French.

Recent discussion or guest speaker topics have included: adoption, problem-solving for couples, homophobia in the schools and legal issues for lesbian parents. We also sometimes get together in the village or go dancing. Occasionally, we organise social events specifically for single moms.
